Egypt T-bill auction, 20 November 2007: 364-day at 7.67%, up 74 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 20 November 2007, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 7.15% (up 44 basis points), the 182-day bill at 7.38% (up 29 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 7.67% (up 74 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 15.1bn against EGP 4.5bn on offer, 336% of the amount sought, and EGP 4.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 6.82% to 10.21%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.81%, so the government is paying 214 basis points less than twelve months ago.
