Egypt T-bill auction, 7 August 2007: 364-day at 7.92%, up 12 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 7 August 2007, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 7.20% (up 22 basis points), the 182-day bill at 7.74% (up 24 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 7.92% (up 12 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 8.7bn against EGP 4.5bn on offer, 193% of the amount sought, and EGP 4.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 7.45% to 10.21%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.10%, so the government is paying 118 basis points less than twelve months ago.
