Egypt T-bill auction, 21 November 2006: 364-day at 9.80%, down 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 21 November 2006, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 9.46% (down 3 basis points), the 182-day bill at 9.79% (up 5 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 9.80% (down 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 8.0bn against EGP 4.0bn on offer, 201% of the amount sought, and EGP 4.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.08% to 9.92%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.28%, so the government is paying 52 basis points more than twelve months ago.
