Egypt T-bill auction, 27 June 2006: 364-day at 8.89%, up 8 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 27 June 2006, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 8.84% (up 12 basis points), the 182-day bill at 8.97% (up 19 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 8.89% (up 8 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled EGP 8.2bn against EGP 5.6bn on offer, 147% of the amount sought, and EGP 5.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.08% to 9.99%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.80%, so the government is paying 90 basis points less than twelve months ago.
