Egypt T-bill auction, 2 May 2006: 364-day at 8.64%, up 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 May 2006, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 364-day bill at 8.64% (up 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 1.9bn against EGP 1.0bn on offer, 188% of the amount sought, and EGP 1.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.08% to 10.40%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.66%, so the government is paying 201 basis points less than twelve months ago.
