Egypt T-bill auction, 14 June 2005: 364-day at 9.80%, down 24 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 June 2005, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 9.51% (down 38 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 9.80% (down 24 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 6.6bn against EGP 1.5bn on offer, 438% of the amount sought, and EGP 1.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.53% to 12.39%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.72%, so the government is paying 93 basis points less than twelve months ago.
