Egypt T-bill auction, 15 June 2004: 91-day at 10.97%, up 9 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 15 June 2004, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.97% (up 9 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 11.27% (up 5 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled EGP 2.5bn against EGP 3.6bn on offer, 69% of the amount sought, and EGP 2.0bn was accepted.
At 10.97%, the 91-day rate is the highest in the 41 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 10.18%, so the government is paying 79 basis points more than twelve months ago.
