Egypt T-bill auction, 1 June 2004: 91-day at 10.61%, up 10 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 1 June 2004, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 10.61% (up 10 basis points) and the 182-day bill at 10.99% (up 23 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled EGP 5.6bn against EGP 6.0bn on offer, 93% of the amount sought, and EGP 5.0bn was accepted.
At 10.61%, the 91-day rate is the highest in the 41 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 10.11%, so the government is paying 50 basis points more than twelve months ago.
