Egypt T-bill auction, 3 February 2004: 91-day at 6.76%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 3 February 2004, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 91-day bill at 6.76% (unchanged) and the 182-day bill at 7.21% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 5.2bn against EGP 1.9bn on offer, 276% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 6.61% to 13.59%.
A year earlier the 91-day bill cleared at 6.31%, so the government is paying 45 basis points more than twelve months ago.
