Egypt T-bill auction, 20 January 2004: 182-day at 7.21%, up 6 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 20 January 2004, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 7.21% (up 6 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 2.2bn against EGP 1.0bn on offer, 217% of the amount sought, and EGP 1.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 182-day rate has ranged from 5.31% to 14.35%.
A year earlier the 182-day bill cleared at 5.24%, so the government is paying 197 basis points more than twelve months ago.
