At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 December 2003, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 7.19% (down 15 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 2.9bn against EGP 1.7bn on offer, 173% of the amount sought, and EGP 1.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 182-day rate has ranged from 5.24% to 14.35%.
A year earlier the 182-day bill cleared at 6.72%, so the government is paying 47 basis points more than twelve months ago.
