At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 December 2003, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 7.34% (up 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled EGP 3.0bn against EGP 3.0bn on offer, 98% of the amount sought, and EGP 3.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 182-day rate has ranged from 5.24% to 14.35%.
A year earlier the 182-day bill cleared at 6.73%, so the government is paying 61 basis points more than twelve months ago.
