Egypt T-bill auction, 30 September 2003: 182-day at 7.00%, down 102 bps

At the Treasury bill auction dated 30 September 2003, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 7.00% (down 102 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.

Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 4.6bn against EGP 700m on offer, 654% of the amount sought, and EGP 2.5bn was accepted.

Over the past year the 182-day rate has ranged from 5.24% to 14.35%.

A year earlier the 182-day bill cleared at 7.55%, so the government is paying 55 basis points less than twelve months ago.
