Egypt T-bill auction, 9 September 2003: 182-day at 8.03%, down 73 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 September 2003, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 8.03% (down 73 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 2.6bn against EGP 400m on offer, 660% of the amount sought, and EGP 1.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 182-day rate has ranged from 5.24% to 14.35%.
A year earlier the 182-day bill cleared at 7.58%, so the government is paying 45 basis points more than twelve months ago.
