Egypt T-bill auction, 2 September 2003: 182-day at 8.75%, down 50 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 2 September 2003, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 8.75% (down 50 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 4.1bn against EGP 1.0bn on offer, 409% of the amount sought, and EGP 1.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 182-day rate has ranged from 5.24% to 14.35%.
A year earlier the 182-day bill cleared at 7.59%, so the government is paying 116 basis points more than twelve months ago.
