Egypt T-bill auction, 19 August 2003: 182-day at 9.54%, down 12 bps

At the Treasury bill auction dated 19 August 2003, the Central Bank of Egypt cleared the 182-day bill at 9.54% (down 12 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of accepted bids.

Demand was strong: bids totalled EGP 2.8bn against EGP 1.1bn on offer, 250% of the amount sought, and EGP 1.1bn was accepted.

Over the past year the 182-day rate has ranged from 5.24% to 14.35%.

A year earlier the 182-day bill cleared at 7.61%, so the government is paying 193 basis points more than twelve months ago.
