Kenya T-bill auction, 5 March 2018: 91-day at 8.029%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 March 2018, the Central Bank of Kenya cleared the 91-day bill at 8.029% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 10.393% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 11.135% (unchanged).
Demand was strong: bids totalled KES 37.4bn against KES 24.0bn on offer, a subscription rate of 156%. The government accepted KES 30.6bn, or 82% of what was bid.
The 91-day paper drew the most interest relative to its size, at 192% subscribed.
Over the past year the 91-day rate has ranged from 8.001% to 8.779%.

Put KES 100,000 into the 364-day bill at this auction and you get back KES 109,465 after 12 months: KES 9,465 in interest after 15% withholding tax (KES 11,135 before), about KES 789 a month.
