Kenya T-bill auction, 27 July 2015: 91-day at 11.486%, up 16 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 27 July 2015, the Central Bank of Kenya cleared the 91-day bill at 11.486% (up 16 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.431% (up 28 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.034% (up 50 basis points).
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled KES 3.6bn against KES 11.0bn on offer, a subscription rate of 32%. The government accepted KES 2.2bn, or 61% of what was bid.
The 91-day paper drew the most interest relative to its size, at 58% subscribed.
At 11.486%, the 91-day rate is the highest in the 52 auctions of the past year.

Put KES 100,000 into the 364-day bill at this auction and you get back KES 111,079 after 12 months: KES 11,079 in interest after 15% withholding tax (KES 13,034 before), about KES 923 a month.
